No commentsAn Event Apart - Chicago
I attended An Event Apart on June 2nd in Chicago. The speakers, Eric Meyer, Jeffrey Zeldman, Jim Coudal, and Jason Santa Maria, were all very engaging and entertaining. Here are some pics posted in the Flickr group.
The topics were generally divided between technical and aesthetic subjects. Eric Meyer covered the CSS topics which included the concept of the “One True Layout” as well as his involvement of the ALA site re-design and his thought process that went into it.
Next up was Jeffrey Zeldman speaking about site content in regards to text and how the words are not working as hard as they could. His comments regarding copy and an overall “Copy Czar” were very good but would be difficult to impliment where I work.
More to come…

A great send up of the perils of design.
And the music sounds very familiar too. I can’t remember where I heard it but it is used here to perfection. Enjoy!
No commentsHello world!
By looking around this blog you may be able to tell that I am very much a pro Web Standards kind of guy. The current widely accepted standards are: (X)HTML for page structure and CSS for design, seperating content from display. Developing sites to standards is starting to pick up steam as more large companies are switching their sites to CSS based layouts.
This blog is where I hope to have all the stuff that doesn’t fit or belong on my portfolio site. I hope to gather a bunch of resources for web design and development as well.
